The theme that day: The approval you don't want to need

The theme of the day

You’re in Libra season now, which puts the sign directly across from yours in the sky. Libra wants to weigh, consult, hear from the other side before moving. Aries wants to move and sort out the details later. The friction between those two impulses is where today’s work lives.

The thing is, you already know what you want to do. You’ve known for a while. But at some point the certainty got complicated, and now you find yourself waiting for some version of permission that arrived after the decision was already made: a nod from a colleague, a signal from a partner, some quiet acknowledgment from someone whose opinion you’ve decided should matter more than it probably needs to.

Notice that. The original decision came from certainty. The waiting came later, from somewhere else, and it is costing you something, in days and in the low-grade tension of a call not made.

The money lens

In work and money, Aries tends to move on instinct before the paper trail catches up. That’s usually an asset. The question today is whether the thing you’re waiting for is a genuine required step or whether it’s cover: the sign-off that means if it goes wrong, you had buy-in. The feedback you solicited so the call doesn’t rest entirely on you.

There’s nothing shameful about wanting company in a decision. But when you’re waiting for permission for something you’ve already decided, the wait is a real cost without a matching return. You’re paying delay, in concrete terms, for protection that a nod from someone else doesn’t actually provide.

Some decisions improve with more input. Some don’t. Knowing which kind this is, before you send the message asking for thoughts, is where today’s work lives.

What to notice today

Watch for the moment you hear yourself say “I’m just waiting to hear back from…” and notice what you’re actually waiting for. If it’s information you genuinely need, that’s one thing. If it’s someone else’s confidence to borrow against your own doubt, that’s a different situation, and it’s worth naming to yourself before it becomes another week of nothing moving.

Also notice the irritation if the sign-off takes longer than expected. Irritation at waiting is often the signal that you already knew what you were going to do and could have done it two days ago. The impatience is the truth showing through.

One more thing to watch: whether you’re presenting the pending decision as “just waiting on feedback” to others, as a way of making the delay seem institutional rather than chosen. That framing is a signal too.

A grounding line

Before you send the message asking for input, spend thirty seconds asking yourself whether you’d change anything if the answer came back as no.
