The theme that day: The story that came from someone else

The theme of the day

You’ve been carrying a narrative about a situation that mostly came from someone else. It arrived through a conversation, or a series of conversations, or even just the emotional weight of being around someone who was in the middle of something difficult. You absorbed it. That’s what Pisces does, and it’s a genuine capacity, not a flaw. But now you’re moving through your own situation with a story in your head that you inherited rather than built, and it’s doing some navigating on your behalf.

Today, try to trace the narrative back to its origin. Not to decide it’s wrong. To find out how much of it is actually yours. Take a specific belief you hold about a current situation: about what someone wants, about why something happened the way it did, about what someone’s real intentions are. Then ask: how do I actually know this? Did I observe it directly, or did I receive it from someone else’s account of events?

The answer might be that the account is accurate and useful and you’ve been right to work with it. Or the answer might be that you’ve been navigating by a map that was drawn for someone else’s terrain. Either way, you want to know.

Pisces is particularly susceptible to this pattern because the absorption happens below the level of conscious decision. You don’t choose to take on someone else’s story. It arrives in the quality of the room, in the emotion behind someone’s words, in the posture of a relationship that’s been shaped by things that happened before you were present for them. The first step is just noticing that the story arrived from somewhere outside your own direct experience.

The money lens

The financial version is when your ideas about money, risk, or what’s possible for you come primarily from the people you spend time with rather than from your own direct experience. Pisces is permeable in this way. If you spend significant time around people who treat money as perpetually scarce, you begin to feel the scarcity. If you spend time around people who talk about certain opportunities as obviously not for someone like you, you start to see yourself through that same frame.

Today, pick one financial belief you hold and trace it. Where did it come from? Did you arrive at it through direct experience, or was it passed to you? This isn’t about deciding the belief is wrong. It’s about finding out whether it’s actually yours, and therefore whether it’s appropriate to your actual situation rather than someone else’s.

An inherited belief about what’s possible, financially, is worth examining before you build your next decision on top of it.

What to notice today

Notice when you’re in your own experience versus when you’re in a story about your experience. Pisces sometimes moves to the narrative without fully inhabiting the event first. Today, try to stay with the direct reality of what’s actually happening before making it mean something. What is literally here? Not what it connects to, not what pattern it confirms, not what it says about the larger situation. Just what is actually here, in front of you, right now.

This is harder than it sounds and produces different information than the story does.

Also notice which people in your life leave you with more of yourself after an interaction and which ones leave you with less. That’s worth knowing as a piece of practical information.

A grounding line

Find one belief you hold about a current situation and ask: who told me this? If the answer is someone else, hold that belief a little more loosely today before acting on it.
